Our Raw Material: A Modern Approach To Ancient Wisdom

Get Started Here...

Mentors Week: The people who we meet in life often have a profound effect on who we are -- from how we think to what we like and dislike. Our relationships with these people will continue to affect us in certain ways throughout our lives. The more awareness we place around these influences, the more power we have to appreciate what we are given, and also mitigate our losses. The Mentor/Tormentor axis is where we will find the roots of our individual self esteem and self-image. It's endlessly fascinating how it all connects!

Try this at home: Create a Mentors List. This is a simple stream of consciousness exercise where you think back to the people who have affected your thoughts, big and small, and simply jot their names on a piece of paper. You do not need to dwell in the memory - just the simple list is enough to help you see the formation of your emotional makeup, and the patterns that have emerged from there. These are the people who have helped to create different feelings and ideas than the ones that already existed in our own heads. The people who have engaged or intrigued us, one way or another. There are so many people who stunt our growth in certain areas, while teaching us how to grow in others. Enjoy basking in the complex relationships we form with the people who mean the most to us!
